Friday morning was the most intense moment of the competition: official Robot Game rounds and, in the early afternoon, the Alliance Round.
Our scores improved steadily round after round, taking us into the top 20 out of 100 teams from all over the world — a result we’re happy with, given the level of the competition.
The Alliance Round works differently from the classic rounds: two robots from different teams take the field together and collaborate to achieve the highest possible combined score. It doesn’t count toward the official ranking, but it’s one of the most interesting parts of the event: you have to coordinate with a team you just met, understand how their robot works, and find a way to make them cooperate. We were paired with a team from South Korea, and the match went well — good chemistry and a good execution of the round.
Saturday morning brought the closing ceremony, then back to the city of Toronto for our last day.
Between Saturday afternoon and Sunday we got to enjoy a few more highlights of the city, including the famous aquarium and Nathan Phillips Square.
On Sunday evening we boarded our flight home, leaving behind the life and places we visited but bringing back a huge international experience, one that will surely stay with us for a long time.
But we’re not stopping here: the next chapter is Istanbul, where in the coming days we’ll be competing in the First Tech Challenge. Follow us! 💪
